In
a future world, young people are increasingly becoming addicted to an illegal
(and potentially deadly) battle simulation game called Avalon. Review: Like most of Oshii's films, it's a surreal piece about the confusion of dreams and reality. The visuals are absolutely astounding. You will be hard-pressed to find a live action piece with visuals as detailed, complex, and memorable as Avalon. Much of the commentary and true meaning is found through the film's obscure visuals and symbolism. Even if you don't really get it in the end, it'll leave you thinking for a long while. Those who are up to repeated viewings will start to discover what the film is truely about, as randomly interpretational as it -may seem- at first. This film is truly a visionary masterpiece, and is not to be missed! |
