·Curzon SOHO, 1st Feb, 11.00pm

With thanks to the Estate of Douglas Adams, our annual panel debate continues in 2003. This year we pose the question:

Does science fiction predict the future?

Sci-fi surrounds us: gadgets and advances in science hint at things that seem science fictional but are, in fact, real. Do we simply accept the information we are given?

Is anyone surprised when another bizarre story hits the news? Cloning babies, growing organs from stem cells, glow-in-the-dark mice, transparent computers - these seemingly outlandish ideas have become unsurprising developments.

Chicken or egg? Where does sci-fi fit into all this?

Our panel includes:
Mark Bennett
Technology expert, editor of Black Ice magazine
Richard Milton
Writer and science expert, author of Alternative Science
Steve Aylett
Writer and author of Shamanspace
Dave Green
