The Arthur C. Clarke Award is the most prestigious award for science fiction literature in Britain and recognised as one of the most prestigious science fiction awards in the world, the equivalent of the Booker Prize.

It is awarded every year to the best science fiction novel which received its first British publication during the previous calendar year.

The Award is chosen by jury. The Award was set up in 1986 and the first winner was announced in 1987.

In conjunction with SCI-FI-LONDON, the 20th Arthur C. Clarke Award will be presented on Wednesday 26th April 2006.

‘I'm delighted that the Arthur C. Clarke Award, now recognised as one of the world's leading science fiction awards, is joining hands with the UK's only dedicated science fiction and fantastic film festival, SCI-FI LONDON.
Like 2001: A Space Odyssey, it's the perfect union of literature and film, and I hope it would be a long and fruitful partnership.’
- Arthur C. Clarke, March 2006

This event is strictly by invitation only.
