Battlestar Galactica Webisodes

It seems that webisodes are becoming an increasingly popular way of giving sci fi fans even more of their favourite shows. The BBC did it with the last season of DOCTOR WHO, and now the SciFi Channel in the US is doing the same with its flagship series BATTLESTAR GALACTICA.

With Season Two having just been released on DVD in the UK, Season 3 is set to air on the US from October 6. In the lead up to that hotly anticipated event scifi.com are showing a five-week, 10-episode online-only prequel “season” called BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: THE RESISTANCE. Premiering September 5, the site will begin airing two- to three-minute episodes every Tuesday and Thursday at midnight (US time), leading up to the October 6 season 3 US television premiere.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: THE RESISTANCE shows the days following the events of the season 2 finale. Life on New Caprica had held the promise of protection from the Cylons, breathable air and solid land under their feet. However, when the planet was discovered, humanity was forced to learn to live under Cylon occupation. As Saul Tigh (Michael Hogan) and Chief Tyrol (Aaron Douglas) organize an insurgency, the Cylons campaign for peaceful co-existence, yet eliminate anyone showing signs of resistance (sounds just like US foreign policy in Iraq to me). As life among the Cylons becomes more and more unbearable, former members of Galactica’s fleet — lifelong friends Jammer (Dominic Zaprogna) and Duck (Tucker Clellan) — must decide whether resistance or compliance is in the best interest of humanity.

The prequel is showing at www.scifi.com/battlestar. A one-hour recap special, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: THE STORY SO FAR, will also be online throughout September. Unfortunately it does not seem to work on computers outside the US. If anyone has any success, or knows ways around the restrictions, then please leave comments below or in the Forum. However, there is plenty of other BATTLESTAR GALACTICA content on the site that can be viewed.
