ComICA

The ICA, on The Mall, just off Trafalgar Square, is holding its annual ComICA event to celebrate one of the last bastions of figurative art, the comic. Often ridiculed as pulp trash, comics have become the mythology of western society, not to mention supplying the inspiration for some of the biggest box-office properties for the Hollywood studios in recent years.

ComICA is a mini festival, mostly made up of talks from legends of the art form. This year’s guest speakers include legends such as Art Spiegelman (Maus) and Gilbert Shelton (Furry Freak Brothers).

For manga fans there are two anime showing: a double bill of NARUTO features, and TWENTIETH CENTURY BOYS, inspired by the T-Rex song.
