Currently in its inaugural year, Fantastic Planet: Sydney Science Fiction & Fantasy Film Festival aims to ‘seek out and encourage bold speculative films that explore other imagined worlds, universes, and realities – new celluloid glimpses of alternative futures, pasts, and presents – and to showcase this fantastic cargo of cinema to audiences in Sydney, Australia.’
Dedicated to the promotion and exhibition of science fiction and fantasy cinema from around the globe, and founded by the team behind Australia’s leading horror film event – A Night of Horror International Film Festival – Fantastic Planet will run for the very first time, for 5 days and nights, in October 2009.
Currently the festival is taking submissions (until 14th of August 2009) for Feature Films, Short Films, Short Animations, and Screenplays, for exhibition later in the year.
