Meet Dacre Stoker at Waterstones, Piccadilly.

Dracula The Un-Dead by Dacre Stoker and Ian HoltVampire fever is about to bite again……

With the film release of ‘New Moon’ just around the corner and ‘True Blood’ getting raves on TV, the fascination and obsession for Vampires continues unabated. Why? What is the appeal?

Vampire myths have existed throughout the ages all over the world and have appeared in some shape or form in almost every culture and society. Their qualities? Immortality and vitality, their great strength and stamina, in some tales their ability to read minds or fly… It is therefore, no wonder that we are so drawn to them. Vampires are a romantic notion, their mystery and suffering something that appeals to us.

The undisputed king of all Vampires is obviously Dracula, created by Bram Stoker, and now Dacre Stoker, a direct descendant of Bram has used his great grand-uncle’s original manuscript as the basis for a new story, a sequel to Dracula entitled Dracula: The Un-Dead. Dacre, for his first novel, was able to access Bram Stoker’s hand-written notes and include in the story characters and plot threads that had been excised by the publisher from the original printing over a century ago.

Dacre StokerDracula is one of the most recognised fictional characters in the world, having spawned dozens of multi-media spin-offs. The Un-Dead is the first Dracula story to enjoy the full support of the Stoker estate since the original 1931 film starring Bela Lugosi

If you would like to meet and speak to the direct descendant of the man who brought us the original Vampire, to discuss the phenomenon then Dacre Stoker will be giving a talk at Waterstones, 203-205 Piccadilly, London, W1J 9HD‎ on Monday 28th September.
