>> FAQ

Do I need to use the artwork?
No, think of them as storyboards, they give you the outline plot and some dialogue.

The 3 storylines and titles are provided for you to make a film - in the style of 2000AD's Futureshock based on the storyline you choose.

The term storyboard is not meant in the "blueprint" sense

The judges will look for technical merit, overall presentation, style and storytelling ability more than an exact conversion of the story.

Can I use my own storyline?
Erm.. .no. This is a competition to turn one of the three stories into a short film

I want to submit on tape, Can I?
No. We will accept CD or DVD discs but the content must be "webready" (either a suitable Quicktime or Windows Media format, Flash SWF etc)

I am not based in the UK can I take part?
Absolutely. The competition is open to anyone in the World.

The 2000AD Futureshock Film Competition is now closed.

SPECIAL EVENT: Futureshock COMPETITION RESULT

Sunday 1st Feb, 6.45pm at the Talkaoke table

In conjunction with that most marvellous of journals 2000AD, we challenged filmmakers and animators to bring to life a Futureshock story.

The Futureshock series is a popular feature in 2000AD and has featured writers such as Alan Moore (league of extraordinary men).
We are proud to bring you 3 stories from the collection and ask you to adapt them for the small screen. click here to find out more about Tharg's Future Shocks in 2000AD

Prizes include a lifetime subscription to 2000AD, a VIP pass to SCI-FI-LONDON. The winning films screened at SCI-FI-LONDON film festival and a unique "Judge Oscar" award... more to be announced.

Whether you film on MiniDV, use After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop or use Flash, you need to create a film from your chosen story. This will involve scripting, casting or character development, set and/or background design, filming and/or animating, editing, adding sound and effects, titling and finally outputting. A lot of work indeed, so we are giving you a few months.

Your completed movie must be with us by January 6th 2004 either by email, uploaded via FTP or on a CD-ROM. It should be in one of our accepted formats; Flash SWF, Mpeg, MOV, WMV, AVI. The file size must be no bigger than 5mb.

There is no limit on the duration of your piece, just the file size. However, please do not make the resolution smaller than 320 x 200.

Submissions of completed films should be sent:
via email to scifilondon@2000adonline.com

via snail mail to:
