DOA

Yet another videogame to movie adaptation, and by the looks of it one that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Based on the fighting game Dead or Alive it is about three beautiful women who have been invited to compete in yet another of the world’s ultimate secret martial arts tournaments. Tina Armstrong is a superstar in the world of pro-wrestling, and is played by Jaime Pressly from MY NAME IS EARL (that cast seems to be in everything at the moment). Christie, played by Aussie pop songstress and former soap-star Holly Valance, is a fantastically sexy master thief. Kasumi, played by Devon Aoki (SIN CITY), is a ninja princess, schooled by martial arts masters. All three begin the awesome fighting contest as rivals, but soon find that they will have to team up together to defeat the tournament’s sinister secret. This looks like it could be one of those guilty pleasure films that is pure, mindless entertainment with scantily clad women and lots of martial arts violence. Something CHARLIE’S ANGELS could/should have been.

DOA is in cinemas from Friday September 15.
