In a summer of superhero movies, one of the most hotly anticipated is Chris Nolan’s THE DARK KNIGHT, not only because of Heath Ledger’s amazing performance as The Joker, but also because it is a comic book movie for grown ups. As entertaining as the Marvel movies have been so far, the older cinema viewing public wants something with a bit more substance. Of course, the dark horse could be WANTED, which is definitely one for the grown ups.
In anticipation of THE DARK KNIGHT coming to cinemas on July 25, Warners are releasing BATMAN BEGINS on Blu-Ray on July 14, and Titan Books have published some new Batman titles and re-released some classic Joker comic books. To celebrate this we have three sets of the Batman books to give away. The Killing Joke, by Alan Moore and Brian Bolland is one of the inspirations behind the new movie, and it is out now in a deluxe hardback edition. Joker’s Last Laugh, by Chuck Dixon and Scott Beatty, has The Joker terminally ill with a brain tumour. The other book is a novelisation of Gotham Knight, based on the anime series. With each book we will give away a Dark Knight goodie bag, from Warners, containing a pen, a key ring, buttons and a bracelet.
