Spend sunday afternoon with a big box of popcorn, winter socks
on and snuggle down to the Curzon Sunday Double Bill.
28 Days Later
Dir. Danny Boyle. 2002 Runtime:
113 mins
Low-key and realistic, 28 Days Later is a fun romp: Day of the Triffids meets
one of Romero’s zombie flicks… It's not without flaws, the characters
are a little two-dimensional but it is a good example of an end-of-the-world picture.
One day someone will treat the audience to an intelligent film of Earth Abides
and be able to leave out zombie rages.
THE X-FILES
Dir: Rob Bowman, 1998 Runtime:
121 mins
A counterpoint to the low-tech feel of 28 Days, we have The X-Files movie and
it is great. A tight script, good sets, locations and casting all impress.
You do not need to be a fan of the TV show to enjoy this, it stands alone very
well. Relax and enjoy it as a scary and thrilling sci-fi movie.
