Dead? Got Talent? Something to say? Need an outlet for all those creative fluids?

Then why not enter our ZOMBIE POETRY COMPETITION and help us celebrate our first ever Zombie All-nighter

It is really easy, write something and record it on video, upload it to Youtube and send us the link. - Don't worry about major film production - shoot on your mobile phone if you want...

The shortlisted entries go in front of our esteemed panel, which includes comedian Josie Long (just back from Edinburgh), Chris Patmore (our very own Editor) and the Ed (Founder of Terror4fun.com - THE zombie resource!). The winners will be invited to perform their poem live at the festival.* As well as receiving a number of wonderful prizes including £50 and £25 vouchers to spend at PLAY.COM, stacks of DVDs including the soon to be classic ZOMBIE STRIPPERS (...yup!) and a fantastic SONY Blu-Ray DVD Player - nice!

The competition is open to anyone and free to enter. (Deadline extended)

The Closing date 29th September and the Award ceremony 3rd October at the Apollo West End.

* The competition is open to anyone anywhere in the world but we can only offer travel expenses to the festival to people in the UK - next year maybe we will have a bigger budget.

SCI-FI-LONDON Zombie Poetry Competition

We recommend all potential entrants read the Rules and How to enter before entering.

Rules:

  1. The competition is open to anyone. Ideally, Poems should not exceed 40 lines (not including title).
  2. Entries must be in English.
  3. Poems must not have been previously published, self-published or published on a website or broadcast before 30 September 2008.
  4. The closing date of the competition is 21 September 2008. The competition is open to non-UK applicants.
  5. Each poem must be given a title. Please include your name and contact details on the email you send with the link to your Youtube video. We will add them to our Youtube channel www.youtube.com/SFLTV and selected videos may appear on SCI-FI-LONDON.TV
  6. Poems must be the original work of the author.
  7. There is no restriction on the number of poems submitted by each applicant.
  8. Each poem will be judged separately.
  9. Entries will only be accepted when video is uploaded to Youtube.com and then a link submitted by email to zombiepoet@sci-fi-london.com. Please include the text of your poem and contact details in the email.
  10. Poems for the SCI-FI-LONDON poetry competition must be on the subject of zombies or the Undead.. Alterations cannot be made to poems after they have been submitted.
  11. The competition organisers are NOT able to confirm receipt of entries.

Fees

There is no cost to enter this competition.

Results

All short-listed poets will be personally notified on or by 28 September 2008. The winners will be announced at the SCI-FI-LONDON Oktoberfest film festival on 3rd October 2008 and will include an award ceremony. All winners will be requested to provide a biography and photograph. All winners will be asked to do some promotional interviews for our podcast and some third parties.

The copyright of each poem remains with the author. Authors of the poems entered will grant SCI-FI-LONDON the right to publish or broadcast the poems. The rights granted herein will be inperpetuity, on any format known or to become known and are non-exclusive. In english this means you can do what you like with your poem - and so can we :)

The organisers reserve the right to change the panel of judges without notice and not to award prizes if, in the opinion of the judges, such action is justified. Submission of entry will be deemed to imply unqualified acceptance of the competition's rules and conditions. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
