Blink of an Eye Shorts Programme

6:30PM
SCI-FI-LONDON is committed to presenting short films as a part of the festival line-up. Each year we put a call out for short film and each year we receive hundreds of amazing stories from around the world.
La Antena

7:00PM
Described as Fritz Lang meets Tim Burton, this dazzling black and white silent movie manages to exhibit a fresh imagination all of its own. The boy with no eyes, whose mother has no face, lives in an unnamed city where the population have no voices.
Netherbeast Incorporated

8:45PM
A wickedly funny comedy involving the redefining of vampires for integration into the corporate world, Netherbeast Inc. spins an alluring love story with biting humour. 'It's like if the Coen brothers had made Shaun of the Dead...'
Dai-Nipponjin

9:10PM
A wickedly deadpan spin on the pop image of giant Japanese superheroes like ULTRAMAN, from Director and star Hitoshi Matsumoto, one of Japan's biggest comedians. Daisato is the subject of a documentary that follows his banal daily routine. That is, until he prepares for his 'job.' As bolts of lightening tear the sky, Daisato is transformed into a 50 foot giant, sporting tight purple pants, tattoos and Mark Kermode's hair, becoming DAI-NIPPONJIN
Friday 2nd May
Suspension

6:30PM
What if you could stop time, if you could move around while everything else seemed 'paused' - what would you do, when no one could stop you? Suspension might just be the next PRIMER, an indie sci-fi movie that digs as deep into the characters as the science.
Dragon Hunters

6:45PM
Like many of the recent blockbuster animated films, DRAGON HUNTERS is full of humour aimed squarely at us grown-ups... well, big kids. This beautifully animated feature is voiced by Forest Whitaker (LAST KING OF SCOTLAND) and Rob Paulsen (TENAGE MUTANT NINJATURTLES).
The Last Line See 'Friendly hero'

8:30PM
THE LAST LINE (25mins) Award-winning doc that captures the funny, bittersweet experiences of STAR WARS fans camping-out to see the final instalment.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Hero WORLD PREMIERE

8:30PM
You've seen them on CNN and read about them in BIZARRE. But who are these do-gooders donning costumes to patrol our neighbourhoods or clean up the streets?
Wolfhound

8:45PM
You'll feel the wind in your hair and the sweat on your brow. Big bold heroes, fair maidens, fantastic locations and excellent choreography, this is fantasy at its best. The scale of the project is unprecedented in post-Soviet cinema. Right up there with the best Hollywood (and New Zealand!) sword and sorcerer genre films.
Saturday 3rd May

11:00AM

Chrysalis

11:15AM
'An impeccably tooled, high-octane sci-fi thrill with a thick layer of visionary cool, CHRYSALIS delivers a huge helping of familiar genre goods in a shiny new package.' - Variety. A cyberpunk thriller, future-shock noir with stiff shots of intense, adrenaline-fuelled action.

Vexille

3:30PM
A stunning science fiction tale from the team behind Appleseed. This is a vividly-rendered fantasy that should appeal to anyone who likes far-flung adventures, be they animated or not. However, for hardcore animé fans, this is the one not to miss.
La Creme

5:30PM
What if people started thinking they knew you and were convinced that you were famous? LA CREME (THE CREAM) is a black comedy about celebrity. This is the debut feature for director, Reynald Bertrand and he guides his actors between comedy and tragedy like an old hand, winning him Best Feature 2007 at the Toronto Fantasy Film Festival and Beijing International Movie Festival.

Paragraph 78

7:45PM
Whilst this looks like a simple action movie, PARAGRAPH 78 deals seriously with issues of loyalty, friendship and honour. It is one of those rare things - an action movie with depth of story and character, based on the novels by Ivan Ohlobystin.
Wasting Away CAST/CREW Q&A

8:45PM
Zombies french-kissing, green goo and exploding heads - you will laugh so hard bits of you might just fall off. Winner of the Audience Award, ScreamFest Festival Los Angeles 2007

Wizard of OZ FREE EVENT

11:30AM
The youngest members of the festival team wanted us to introduce some kids-only elements to the programme. Ever obliging, this year we are very excited to screen a 35mm print of the classic 1939 WIZARD OF OZ, starring Judy Garland. We'll present this movie with the lights up a bit, the sound down a bit and babies and toddlers welcome.
2010:The Year We Make Contact

1:00PM
In this sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey, a joint American-Soviet expedition is sent to Jupiter to discover what went wrong with the U.S.S. Discovery against a backdrop of growing global tensions. This is a very different movie to 2001 and one that deserves more attention, it has suffered from being the younger brother to a movie labelled as 'cult' or 'classic'. It certainly feels more 'mainstream' but as far as sci-fi movies go, this is a great one.
SFL Pub Quiz

2:00PM
Oh yes, our notoriously tricksy pub quiz returns and everyone loves a pub quiz, right? Well, how about doing it in a luxury cinema.
